Gaining some Collarity…

January 22nd, 2007 View Comments

Although new search tools seem to pop up every now and then before fading into the darkness, this one seems like it has legs. Collarity calls itself a relevance engine, although I think that undermines its powers and how interesting it could actually be. Collarity is a community based search engine which relies on tailoring searches to the individual.

The way it tailors searches is indeed exciting. As you begin to type Collarity matches your words and suggests relevant possible keywords to continue searching with. These are provided via the Collarity Compass which allows you to automatically append terms to your search by clicking on them.

Furthermore, you are also able to filter the information by Group, Community and Personal. Personal is only availible once registered which then moves you into the community area. The community is billed as being search through “like-minded” people. This therefore means that every user is a contributor based on the number of searches and type of searches.
