The Forgotten Trend of Music

January 15th, 2008 View Comments

I myself are guilty of the sin of forgetting about podcasting. Having jumped on the podcasting bandwagon with clients and my own personal preferences, I soon forgot about it and stopped updating. It seems some of the artists I listened to also did the same.  So it was with great interest that I saw that Wizzard Media reported an estimated 1billion downloads of podcasts in 2007.

The figure of 1bn is a mind blowing number, but does beg the question how many of these are actually listened to by the downloader. The idea of podcasts is that they download automatically so perhaps the number of downloads is not equivalent to the number of listens. However, I for one have taken this onboard and will be both starting use of podcasts once again and secondly be creating my own. (Keep an eye out for these.)
