I had a quick first look into TruPulse (from Visible Technologies) to see what it showed up in terms of the current party sentiment across blogs, forums etc. Although I don’t feel that TruPulse is giving me the best data, it does give me an interesting starting point from which to analyse sentiment moving forward.
The first chart (above) has been pulled based on conversations around two categories “Labour Party” and “Conservative Party”. Labour Party’s key search terms are simply “Gordon Brown” AND “Prime Minister”, Conservative Party’s key search terms are “David Cameron” AND “Conservative Party”. (I haven’t yet looked at associations between David Cameron and the term Prime Minister – high or not? you decide)
It seems to indicate a bit of bias to conversations around the Labour Party terms. This does make sense as Labour’s PM and candidates feature heavily in discussions around the “Luddite” Digital Economy Bill.
When it comes to the types of keyword people are using, the most commonly mentioned is Labour. Labour received over 384 mentions whereas the Election received 304. Conservatives received 172.
The types of media where most mentions are occurring swings towards the News. However, its clear Twitter is going to be a stomping ground for public opinion and will allow those with soapboxes to stand up to attempt their involvement.
We will keep track of who is saying what and how its being received in the digital world. Any pointers or posters please send them in or drop them in the comments.
