I thought I would start the year as I mean to go on, bringing interesting content to the forefront and thinking about it from a strategic viewpoint. Vimeo is a great source of beautifully shot content, with much more meaning than most of the stuff you can find on YouTube.
To launch a video here shows class and credibility. The House of Radon, who I knew nothing about until I saw this video, clearly have an expert eye for both of the above. In this video, with a guest appearance and as always, really thought provoking insight is Moby. The question that this raises over artistry v creation is really interesting, so watch on.
I had no idea who Yuri Suzuki was until I read this article on DesignBoom. What I have learnt to date is that the guy creates some really unusual, distorted, sounds through projecting his idea of the way music could be played. Here are some of the choicer cuts from Yuri Suzuki, I particularly like the fun of the Sound Chaser.
Am sure there will be much much more to come from Yuri Suzuki, so worth keeping you eyes peeled and possibly your ears wide shut, the noise is a bit screechy after all. “Its a bit like Japanese Horror music” said one colleague.
I’m not entirely sure how or why, but I have become a pretty big Chase & Status fan. Perhaps its because they represent rave culture from the 90s in their music. Anyway, Somesuch & Co who work alongside The Brooklyn Brothers helped produce this video for their latest track. I think its a pretty outstanding video.
The Underbelly Project appeared in NYC in early November. I think We Own the Night by Revok Ceaze was probably the most eye-catching piece of the images that I have seen floating around. Sadly, the website doesn’t seem to be functioning at http://theunderbellyproject.com/. I’m hoping the space gets left how it is and turned into a new club for NYC.
