Each week at the Brooklyn Brothers I pull together three relevant TED talks around a particular theme. This weeks theme was “The Importance of Something New”. I think sometimes we forget that new doesn’t always have to be about creation, new can mean evolution. In the three talks for this week “new” is taken to different and interesting levels. From Matt Cutt’s “Try something new” to Google’s Driverless Car, all were about good new things which had simple reasoning.
Alexis Ohanian: How to make a splash in social media
Matt Cutts: Try something new for 30 days
Sebastian Thrun: Google’s driverless car
Next week is all about the failure of the average male….
At The Brooklyn Brothers, we regularly get together to expand learning, meet new trends and try to understand the more interesting things that are hitting global markets. We call these sessions “Cultural Brainfood” and they really are that, sessions which feed our brains with new stuff.
The sessions are run by three people:
- Sarah Cotterill & Vicky Simmons. Two of the rising stars of the industry and at the forefront of the new type of digitally-led creative. You can see alot of their thinking coming out in Cultural Brainfood.
- Matt Springate. (http://www.theculturaljackdaw.typepad.com/) Proven as one of the best planners in the business. Matt has regularly won planning awards and continues to be a great source of insight on all things culture.
Being Henry launched yesterday to a 24hr exclusive with PSFK. (link here) Being Henry marks a new style of branded content: a deeply interactive, brilliantly written, and beautifully directed film. Directed by Nick Gordon and created by The Brooklyn Brothers, Being Henry takes you on a journey through 9 different storylines and 32 potential endings.
Of course interactive content isn’t new, we wouldn’t profess this is the first bit of interactive content. However, we do believe there has not been anything of this type before in terms of the script, direction and interactivity. It is going to be interesting to see how this grows and develops, I believe we have created something incredibly interesting and new, but its down to you to tell us what you think.
